Northcote

 

I have only recently moved to Northcote for the remaining time of my placement. I have worked here now for about 4 weeks and I am enjoying every minute. I did work here in January during the Obsession food festival. Click here to read all about Obession.

 

During my time at Northcote so far I have learnt so much about fine dining service. At first I honestly thought that the staff were hardly allowed to communicate with the clients but I was 100% incorrect, you can chat to the customers as much as you like its just the manner in which you speak to them. Northcote is in a league of its own, not just the food but the service quality and the hotel rooms, which I have witnessed and they are beauitiful. 

 

I have only worked in the restuarnt so far but im not interested in housekeeping or reception work as I'm showing a keen interest in the food which is dispacted into the restauramt. 

 

Eventhough i have only been here a certain time I have learnt so much and I'm keen to learn more. I have learnt about so many different ingredients that I didnt know existed for example purple basil!! The kitchen staff are an incredible team and it has been an honour to work with them and the other FOH staff.

 

Whilst being at Northcote my duties have included taking food out on trays, silver service bread, polish cutlery, polish plates, keep the still area clean and tidy, hoover the restaurant to a high standard, fold napkins correctly, prepare cheese for customers, make sure lightening is correct in restaurant, make sure music is on before customers enter the resaturant, scope the room to make sure it is all set up before service, take out canapes to correct clients and explain what they are in detail, clear tables correctly, describe desserts to customers, make coffee to a high standard, make sure petit fois go to correct clients, make sure dietaries are meet with canapes, serve drinks in PDR(Private Dining Room). 

 

I hope to learn even more before I finish my placement, I'm very keen to learn more about the food on the menu and where it comes from.

 

In my time at Northcote i have come to realise this is the area of hospitality I could see myself having a full-time positions in.

Performance Evaluation

 

Lucy has been working with the Northcote Group for the last 3 years. During that time she has demonstrated her strong passion for the Hospitality industry. Lucy is a very important member of our team, showing great interest in the Restaurant and aiming to deliver a very good service to our customers. During the last couple of weeks Lucy has been given more and more responsibility, I would just love her to have a little more confidence in herself.

Private Dining Room - The Louis Roederer Room

During the few weeks i have worked at Northcote I had the pleasure of working in The Louis Roederer Rooms, these are for provate dining and can be hired for any occasion from a wedding to a conference. I have looked after weddings in this room as well as a conference, the businesses who hire these rooms have very high standards and northcote doesn;t fail to accomodate this. One of the companies I looked after is called Regent Seven Seas Cruises  they are a Six Star cruise line company, I was lucky enought o speak to their marketing team and watch there slideshow, it looked incredible!
